Pete Yackus was born in Michigan City, Indiana and received his Bachelors of Science from Ball State University. After stints as substitute, zoo keeper/maintenance man, and working in the Indianapolis Public schools, he took a chance at a mid-year position in a small district in the Texas Hill Country.
When the position didn't carry over due to student enrollment, he then moved to a district outside of Houston, Texas. While working in Fort Bend ISD, he completed his Masters of Education from the University of Houston-Victoria in Mid-Management with a principal's certification. As fate would have it before he took the path of campus administrator, an opportunity opened for the Elementary Social Studies Coordinator. He is currently in his 17th year with the district and expanding their social studies curriculum by integrating technology-rich activities into the curriculum. He enjoys reading, fishing, riding his motorcycle (when it is working), and spending time with his wife and boys. |
